- Long-term growth can be achieved only if the short-term actions demonstrate strength and resilience.
- Bajaj says, “We as a society are experiencing something which societies before haven’t, which is learning how to manage uncertainty.”
- During the government mandated lockdown, like most people, Sanjiv Bajaj has spent time renewing bonds with family.
Mumbai: Sanjiv Bajaj spearheads various companies under the Bajaj Group. Armed with a repertoire of knowledge and degrees from esteemed universities across the world, such as Warwick University in the UK and Harvard University in America, Bajaj now holds positions across various boards in the Bajaj Group. He currently serves as the CMD of Bajaj Finserv, where he propagated the diversification of the company into lending, general insurance, as well as life insurance.
It can be understood that Bajaj would be an extremely busy man in the ideal world, but coronavirus had different plans in mind. During the government-mandated lockdown, like most people, Sanjiv has spent time renewing bonds with family, although he does admit that his family might not be joyful of his constant presence. However, this doesn’t negate the fun, games, and loving that comes from lockdown in the form of table tennis, board games, or swimming for him.
More importantly, when discussing his businesses, Bajaj states he has focused on creating long-term, sustainable and profitable companies. To create businesses that are built on the strong foundation of excellence, that takes care of its employees and believes in open and honest communication is extremely important. However, long-term growth can be achieved only if the short-term actions demonstrate strength and resilience. This lockdown has been a prime example of how Bajaj critically undertakes actions for both the short-term and long-term benefits of his companies.
While one may not agree that the lockdown was necessary, it has served as an important learning experience for millions across India and the globe. Bajaj says, “We as a society are experiencing something which societies before haven’t, which is learning how to manage uncertainty.” Wise words indeed, Mr. Bajaj!
